Process for Abstract Expressionism Painting

I started a new unit to create a non-objective abstract expressionism painting. We first started with small canvasses to practice. I wanted to have a green color scheme, so I used blue and yellow for my wash.

I started to create a sea theme with the charcoal. Next, I made marks with undiluted paint.

The paint turned out to be a lot more yellow than I anticipated, and I struggled to get the more balanced green color I wanted. Because of this, I switched my color scheme to blue and green. I then added white in to brighten my colors. Finally, we added a small painting in the corner. I really wanted to add some purple for a complete cool color theme. However, it would be unbalanced to only have purple there, so I then added it throughout my piece.
